La Montagne des Singes
A must-do in Alsace
Still wondering about what to do in Alsace? If so, we’ve got a good idea – go see some monkeys! Indeed, at the park La Montagne des Singes, you’ll be able to observe some of these cute primates!
La Montagne des Singes is home to Barbary macaques, also known as Barbary apes or magots. Originally from North Africa and living in Morocco and Algeria, these lively and personable little creatures live in mountainous regions in gorges, forests and rocky ridges. In October 2016, it officially became a protected species.
Living in hierarchical communities, the Barbary apes cannot help but win over visitors, and it’s their spontaneity that makes visiting the park so exceptional for all.
With complete freedom, you can meet them face to face. They’ll be as interested in you as you are in them! Also worthy of note is the family treasure hunt itinerary, which will make the visit even more captivating.
Around 50 minutes by car from our hotel and just 3.5 km from the Volerie des Aigles eagle park in Kintzheim, come and discover this sanctuary for Barbary apes where they’re completely safe to roam free.
